4/8/09 Goals 1. To help make a diverse number and genre of recently published magazines, books and other periodicals available to schools and other non-profit organizations 2. To use the experience and knowledge of our group of HR Professionals to assist with other community driven needs Initiatives 1. Gather, organize and distribute used books and magazines to school libraries, public libraries, homeless shelters, other shelters, etc a. Used book and magazine drives b. Accept donations to be used towards the purchase of new magazine subscriptions or the bulk-purchase of used books and magazines c. Work to locate all types of publications, in the interest of having a well-rounded assortment to donate d. Designate drop-off locations for donations 2. Chapter members to participate as needed in local outreach programs that benefit both the community and literacy in general a. Services available for adults and students b. Interviewing skills c. Resume writing d. Discussions on the importance of furthering your education e. Developing a career path f.
